Value vs Price

All consumers want the same thing: value. People often confuse price for value but price is just one of the elements of value. Given an equal choice, most people prefer to pay a lower price for an identical piece of merchandise. Although price is an extremely important element in any transaction, there are other elements that are also important to consider:

Depending on the product you are buying you may have different factors that are important. The purpose of your item will have a big role to play, for example a strap eye to hold a toilet paper roll is not as important as a strap eye to hold your storm sail tack. Elements to consider are longevity and quality but it can also be electrical efficiency, weight and aesthetics. Making intelligent buying decisions and buying something right the first time is what it’s all about.

At Budget Marine we try to already make the decision easier for you by choosing smart manufacturers that make their products for the conditions they’ll encounter. This is the Caribbean; we have tougher conditions here than for example in the U.S. or Europe which will require a different quality of product, especially those tough marine conditions you face in the Caribbean.

There are also other factors that you need to keep in mind when in the Caribbean which you may not experience elsewhere:

1. The ease of finding replacement parts. We select certain brands that we know we can easily get and hold replacement parts for such as Tohatsu outboards which are easy to maintain and that have a large amount of parts for when you do need it. Lewmar hatches and Whale pumps also have replacement parts available for their products.

2. If you order something online the warranty on the product usually stops by the border. We have a large network in the Caribbean and the supplier warranty on our products is something we uphold in all our locations.

3. Logistics and taxes – every island has their own laws, rules and tax systems, and often times their own currency. We know the Caribbean; we have built up the knowledge of the systems, how and where we can get things efficiently and how we can use the rules to get you the items the fastest and with the lowest cost.

We navigate these waters, we try the products and we know from experience what works and doesn’t and we take those learnings and use them to select the merchandise we carry. We can deliver the value you are looking for and help you make those intelligent buying decisions and try to get you the best price for value while at it. So ask us for a quote today!
