Getting to know Louisa Norris – Manager Budget Marine Antigua

Getting to know Louisa Norris - Manager Budget Marine Antigua 1

Born and schooled in Guyana, Louisa is one of 9 siblings. From an early age she demonstrated her will to learn and engaged in workshops and certification programs, finding employment at a huge bauxite company (LINMINE) at the age of 19, where she started as a typist and was later promoted to supervisory level. After that she worked at Colgate Palmolive in accounting/management.

In June 2000 she decided it was time to test new waters and migrated to Antigua, where she secured employment in the hospitality industry as an assistant financial controller/accountant. Louisa then took her rich experience in the job environment to Budget Marine Antigua, where she functioned as an accountant working 3 days per week. After the departure of the manager of Budget Marine Antigua, Louisa took on the role of interim manager/accountant. Furthermore, she thought it was time to upgrade her education and successfully completed her degree in Business Management with ‘High Honors’. She studied at the Antigua and Barbuda International Institute of Technology (ABIIT) (Graduated 2007), then followed that with studies at the Monroe College USA (Graduated 2009).

Based on the success of Budget Marine Antigua, her position as store manager was made permanent. With the store enjoying increased sales revenue each year, decisions were made to establish additional outlets, making Budget Marine Antigua the only location with 3 stores – the main Jolly Harbour store, that moved to its custom built chandlery in September 2013, the English Harbour store, that opened shortly thereafter, focusing on the megayacht/charter boat clientele, and the North Sound store in September 2015,serving the needs of this recently expanded boatyard.

Louisa’s positive and indefatigable approach during the tough years in far from ideal accommodation and the hectic multiple moves into new buildings, as well as her caring attitude towards staff and customers, have been key ingredients for Budget Marine’s successful growth in Antigua. We wish her and her ‘3 is a charm’ team the very best as they focus their time, energy, and skill sets towards greater efficiency and output within their work environment.
