Earth Leakage Circuit Interrupter ELCI

This device continually checks your incoming shorepower connection for leakage. It looks for imbalance of more than 30mA between live and neutral wires. This would indicate dangerous leakage which could cause metal fittings to become live. If the leakage goes over 30mA the connection is cut to avoid danger of electrocution to persons onboard or in the water near the boat.
Under ABYC E–11.11.1 these devices will be required on new boats.
